Nishtar Park security measures and renovation worth Rs 150 million completed, says Nazim Jamshed Town Javed Ahmed

KARACHI: Nishtar Park has been renovated at the advent of Muharram as the park serves as the key venue for the largest religious congregation of Shia Muslim while major political and social gatherings were being held here for a long time.

Since the Park is located within the precincts of Jamshed town municipal Administrations (TMA), henceforth, the TMA has carried out Park’s renovation. Member national Assembly Rasheed Ahmed Godial has inaugurated the Park after the renovation was completed.

While talking to Daily times, Nazim Jamshed TMA, Javed Ahmed said that Nishtar Park was a sensitive venue and security concerns all over the country had prompted the Jamshed TMA to initiate special measures on permanent basis.

He said that the Renovation of the Park has cost around Rs 150 million and the facilities that have been ensured include installation of 25 close circuit cameras worth Rs 2.5 million, establishment a fully functional Command and Control System integrated with City District Government Karachi’s main Command and Control System.

He said that the Park, Imam Bargah and streets in the vicinity have been taken under constant and strict vigilance so as to prevent any untoward situation. In this regard, Law Enforcement Agencies and Ulema have supported the Jamshed TMA.

He said that the Jamshed TMA has hired 10 Walk-in-Through Gates for the protection of the participants of Muharram Majalis at the Park, Further, a mobile toilette for the mourners has been provided and electrification work has also been upgraded.

He said that the renovation includes improvement of sports facilities for Basket Ball, Cricket and physical fitness worth Rs 6 million. A separate room for women has also been established inside the Park.
