CBC reviews measures on cleanliness, upliftment

KARACHI: The Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) has taken important decisions pertaining to various civic and development works of DHA and CBC areas. These decisions were taken during a meeting that was held Saturday at the CBC office. The meeting CBC Chief Executive Officer Zeenat Ahmed also attended.
The meeting decided that during the forth coming Eid-ul-Adha, CBC would establish 27 dedicated sacrificial camps with all infrastructure facilities in DHA and CBC areas. The sacrificial camps would be established for 3 days while adequate arrangements have been made for prompt removal of the offals and other sacrificial waste from the area the CBC staff concerned would ensure improvement in garbage cleaning, removal of road debris and bush cutting in the area.
The meeting decided that no body would be allowed to carry out sacrifice of animals in open plots, whereas slaughtering of animal within the four walls of residences would be permissible. DHA and CBC vigilance staff would continuously monitor the situation and impose heavy fines on the defaulters as Rs. 5,000, Rs. 3,000 and Rs. 2,000 on sacrifice of camel, cow and goat respectively.
The meeting also decided to rename ‘B’ street after the name of legendary squash player Roshan Khan in recognition of his immense services for the nation. It was also decided that 20 percent of CBC’s Budget should be allocated for development and welfare works of Katchi Abadies.
The meeting also gave approval for carrying out the repair, maintenance and carpeting of a number of roads in DHA.
Tirmizi further directed the staff should work with devotion and commitment for creating quality environment in DHA and CBC areas adding that the CBC staffs concerned should ensure satisfaction of the residents with best manifest of their abilities and they should strive for the continuation of organization’s credibility and reputation.
The CBC Board also approved measures for the replacement of sewage line lids made of fiber and concrete, which would be firmly embedded to ground.
Brig Tirmizi directed that manhole covers for different areas should be of different colours and numbered accordingly while computerized record of these replacements should initiate so as to ensure effective monitoring of the system.Tirmizi asked the CBC water supply department to initiate measures to address the problem of shortage of water in DHA through a comprehensive strategy and to ensure equitable and judicious distribution of water in DHA and CBC areas.
