Commander 5 Corps and President Executive Board DHA, Lt. Gen. Shahid Iqbal visits DHA City project on Super Highway

KARACHI: Commander 5 Corps and President Executive Board DHA, Lt. Gen. Shahid Iqbal visited the DHA City project site on Super Highway here today. Administrator DHA Brig Khalid Tirmizi was also present on the occasion. The upcoming residential cum commercial project is being developed by DHA as a unique residential estate of the metropolis.

The Corps Commander asked DHA to take all measures for fast track development of the area in a manner that it brings a paradigm shift in terms of change in living standards and concept of dynamic lifestyle for the residents. He said that initially some landmark icon places such as theme park, Disney land sort of recreational cum entertainment family resorts and farmhouses should be developed in the area to create attraction for the public.

He also directed DHA to take measures for bringing DHA City in loop of main junction railway track and for inclusion of the area in future city mega plan. Corps Commander also asked DHA to take immediate welfare and goodwill measures by developing healthcare, education and community welfare facilities for the locals and natives of the area.

The Corps Commander was shown a Hybrid Control Renewable Energy project comprising of solar panels and wind turbine giving electricity enough to meet the power requirements of a small complex office with load of few fans, lights and AC. Lt. Gen Shahid asked DHA to undertake the project of indigenous low cost production of wind turbines in collaboration with local manufactures. He said that in an area lying in a wind corridor every house should preferably have a wind turbine in addition to the main power.

DHA has established an Information Centre and a Field Office on the project site. At the elegantly laid out Information Centre the visitors are provided updated and comprehensive information about the project and area details. A dedicated rest area for the visitors with light refreshments arrangement has also been catered for.

DHA has renovated and refurbished a Dispensary in adjacent Goth Allah Dad where two DHA doctors and all types of medicines have been made available for the local of the area. A school building, mosque and a community centre are also in the final stages of repair and refurbishment. They will be made functional and developed as villages’ amenity centre as well.

More than 20,000 residential and commercial plots have recently been allotted by DHA to successful applicants in DHA City balloting. DHA City is spread over on area of more than 11,640 acres with undulating semi hilly terrain in the backdrop of beautiful natural landscaping. The area lies within the corridor of coastal wind, which can be trapped through use of modern technology in form of windmill project to produce electricity.

The topographical survey of the area has been completed, boundary marked and pillars have been erected. Direction signs and boards on Super Highway have been placed to guide the people to DHA City location.
