KARACHI: The National Highway Authority (NHA) would start reconstruction of age-old Mirza Adam Khan Road within the precincts of Liyari Town. Federal minister for Ports and shipping Sardar Nabeel Ahmed Gabol would perform groundbreaking ceremony of reconstruction of the road on Dec 13.
Liyari Town Nazim Hashim Mehmood has urged utility service providers should complete pending repair and maintenance works so that the reconstruction of Mirza Adam Khan Road should be started.
Mirza Adam Khan Road is the key artery in Liyari Town and it ensures access to the means of prosperity for the residents of the area. The dilapidated condition has halted various development projects and has led to constant traffic jams on others roads that link to it, said Mehmood.
Henceforth, utility service providers such as Karachi Electric supply Company, Sui Southern Gas Company (Pvt) Limited and Karachi Water and Sewerage Board should finish pending repair and maintenance works and should avoid starting any new work without prior permission from Liyari Town Municipal Administration.
The NHA would reconstruct Mirza Adam Khan Road with Rs 200 million. The reconstruction of the road would open new avenues of prosperity in the area, claimed Mehmood.People should remove encroachments voluntarily or else Liyari TMA would do the job as a campaign against illegal occupation of land besides the road and illegal car parking would be closed.
