City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal for completion of Banaras Chowk Flyover in 4 months

KARACHI: City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal has warned Construction Company and officers concerned on negligence and carelessness in the execution of work or else they would face strict action. This was said during a chain of surprise visits to the sites of ongoing development projects in city especially the Banaras Chowk Flyover on Monday.
Kamal on his visit to the Banaras Chowk Flyover sought detailed briefing regarding work in progress and issued directives to the officers concerned to accelerate the pace of work on the Banaras Chowk Flyover for on time completion.
Kamal has claimed that the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) has already completed about 60 percent of construction while the remaining 40 percent would be fast completed. Henceforth, the flyover would be open for the traffic within 4 months.
Kamal added that the CDGK had altered the design of the Banaras Chowk Flyover to ensure maximum convenience to the people and thus the cost was also increased. As a result of it, the present flyover would be of 24-meter width with 8.2-meter space in the middle for the proposed Bus Rapid System. The flyover would be 1.5-km long from Metro Cinema to Peerabad Police Station. The CDGK would also construct road beneath the bridge. The flyover would cost CDGK for Rs 1,150 million.
Meanwhile, Kamal presided over a meeting to review CDGK’s special arrangement on the occasion of Eid Ul Adha.
In this regard, Kamal has directed CDGK Municipal Service Department (MSD) to finalize establishment of special monitoring camp office for cleanliness and offal disposal arrangements.
Kamal further ordered the camp office would work round the clock while certain officers would execute their performances in different shift.
Kamal also expressed his satisfaction on special Eid arrangement on behalf of town municipal administrations within their respective jurisdictions. The TMAs have in this regard dug up trenches on 14 different locations, which would suffice for a quick disposal or burial of around 1.5 million offals under scientific method.Certain TMAs including Keamari, Lyari, Saddar, SITE and Liaquatabad have made collective trenches at the Mewashah while others have done separate arrangement.
