KARACHI: Liyari has produced world-class players in different fields of sports including soccer, cycling, boxing and gymnastics while the youth of Liyari has acquired innate talent in other fields such as singing, handicrafts, marathon, comedy and also cricket. Liyari Town nazim Mehmood Hashim expressed these views on the occasion of establishment of a Cricket Academy in Liyari Town.
The only reason was that the youth of the Liyari lacked equal opportunities and was compelled to remain within the limits of Liyari but the time has come that they should be encouraged so that they could also play their role to bring a good name to the country, said Mehmood.
Mehmood nominated Fakhruddin Baloch Liyari Town Cricket Team's Coach and claimed that his bowling style resembled to that of Michael Holding of the West Indies.
Talking to Daily Times Mehmood said that Liyari had always proved a hub of sports while had produced heroes in the field of soccer and boxing but due to lack of support from institutions as was offered to other players led to loss of rise of further sportsman. Mehmood added that these players need special attention at the provincial and national level, which would be of great service to Pakistan in terms of exploring new talents for the country.Liyari TMA would leave no stone unturned for their training and promotion and very soon, teams of Liyari would be prepared for inter-city, inter-province games as well as for national and international events. We are considering hiring services of experts to train the youth at primary level.
