City Council witnesses shouts on Nisar Baloch’s murder

KARACHI: The city council session held Wednesday went vociferous again on the issue of withdrawal of 134 union council secretaries target killing of the Gutter Baghicha fame social activist Nisar Baloch.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Awam Dost Group (ADG) deputy opposition leader Haji Muhammad Jumman Darwan demanded the house should engage in detailed debate on Nisar Baloch.
However, Treasury Benches Dr Nikhat Shakeel opposed the idea and said to the convener that debating on the aforesaid matter would be sub-judiced to the court as the matter was pending with the court.
Dr Nikhat claimed that there had never been any quotes of Zulfiquar Ali Bhutto on the monuments but the opposition was trying to confuse the house and create confrontational state.
PPP ADG Yousuf Naz while interrupted Dr Nikhat Shakeel, demanded her for proof for the matter being sub-judiced.
Treasury benches Akram Memon on point of order paid salute to slain Nisar Baloch for his struggle against encroachments and illegal occupation of Sindh government and City District Government Karachi’s land.
Memon demanded Sindh government to constitute an enquiry committee under the auspices of a Judge from Sindh High Court.
Darwan also demanded for restoring Zulfiquar Ali Bhutto’s quotes on the two monuments in city including the Two Swords and the three Swords.
Treasury benches Masood Mehmood challenged opposition’s demand as he claimed that there were no quotes implanted to the monuments and asked for any material that could prove there were any quotes at the monuments.
Jamaat-e Islami’s Al-Khidmat Group leader Rafiq Ahmed said on a point of order that the treasury benches had engaged in a purposeless debate by claiming that there were no quotes of Zulfiquar Ali Bhutto on the monuments.
Ahmed reminded that during last five sessions, the treasury benches had accepted that the quotes would be replaced while they have denied of any quotes today.
Meanwhile, the leader of the house Muhammad Asif Siddiqui pointed out the quorum. The session was adjourned for half an hour and after counting, the convener announced the quorum was complete.
The opposition had then staged a walk out, which was over in a minute after the treasury benches brought them back in the house.
The leader of the house Muhammad Asif Siddiqui had demanded Sindh government to withdraw the notification under which has caused halting of all the public level functions.
Darwan on point of order defended Sindh Local Government Department for withdrawing 134 secretaries as he claimed that the Sindh Local Government Department has only complied with the orders by the Sindh High Court.
